I took my baby girl from Tennessee to Utah when she was 7 months old, and I don't think I could have done it any earlier than that and had both of us kept our sanity. She was awesome, though! Your tips are right on. I just nursed her every time we took off and every time we landed and she didn't fuss at all! It was great only having one leg on the way there, but on the way back, there were 3 legs (ugh!), the last one being an only 45 minute flight, but it was by far the worst one.

We haven't done any traveling yet, but we usually don't do planes. We have 2 very long car trips coming up (one 15 hours and then 2 weeks later one that's 8 hours) and I am a little nervous about how our 8 month old will do. Hopefully she'll sleep some. My son never went on long car trips as a baby so this is a new avenue for me. Not many road trip videos, so maybe I should catalog our experiences. It will also be our 1st time cloth diapering on vacation. EEK! Here's to hoping all goes well!

@CrazyLeoMom I find that it helps to sit in the backseat after a few hours to keep the baby entertained or soothed. Good luck! Kudos to you with cloth diapering on vaca :). XO.

If you read the carriers it says not to use on an airplane, I'm not sure if it's referring to take off and landing either. We'll be taking the Ergo for our 1yr old, but I'm pretty sure it will only be used to get to the gate.

This will be our first trip with our son.

love traveling with our children. our first was 12 weeks, 2nd was 6 weeks when they first traveled. neither has ever cried or fussed for more than a minute or two. we also try to pick times to travel that fall within nap time, so they're naturally tired. or over a meal time, passes time quickly...then often snooze. an ipod with movies has been a great thing for our oldest now, as well. another big one for us is car seat...we never travel without them, they're use to them and they're comfy
