Well, a couple years ago I drove to a town just north of Puerto Vallarta. I had to drive into PV the next day and do some shopping and as I was approaching the pier I saw two huge cruise ships docked. They were magnificent to look at in the morning sunlight. I looked across the road to my left and saw a huge WALMART, and noticed all these people from the cruise ship crossing the street and heading toward Warlmart to shop. That was exotic and bizarre. Come to Mexico to shop at Walmart? But to my dismay, it seems just about every town of size and merit has a Walmart or Sam’s club these days. Friends tell me that Walmart has raised the bar at some of the bigger Mexican super stores and improved the quality of products that they sell, especially meats and produce so what do I know??? I still tend to go to the Commercial’s when I’m in Mexico but then again I don’t shop Walmart when I’m back in the states. I did get a few photo’s of my truck parked in the Walmart lot!@!
Tropical? Go down to the caribbean side of Mexico. Go to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. There are beatufil spots down there. Playa has a great beach, beautiful water, and is a sleepy town—they have bars and stuff but not like Cancun. Also, you may want to explore more of the Quintana Roo area—they have spa resorts that you will not believe. Have a good one.
